Jane Mpholo, the company’s CEO, is a trailblazer in the creative industry. She became the first recipient of the Department of Arts and Culture’s Cultural and Creative Industries Award (CCIA) under the title "Outstanding Actor in Theatre." Armed with a BA Drama and Theatre Arts degree from the University of the Free State, Jane has showcased her talent across local, national, and international platforms, collaborating with creatives from the Netherlands, USA, and Australia.
An Artist of Many Dimensions As a multilingual writer, director, actor, producer, and playwright, Jane’s accolades speak volumes. Among her many achievements are: - Being selected as one of the top five playwrights for the NATi Rising Stars Project, with her poetic script The Dawn debuting at Suidoosterfees 2022 and later performed at the Pan African Creative Exchange in 2023. - Gaining recognition for her monologue Ha wa lebona as part of LitNet’s Voices Kyknet Fiesta Award-winning project. - Having her scripts The Naked Truth and Fragmented featured in prominent arts festivals, such as KKNK Teksmark and Vrystaat Kunstefees.
Jane is also the author of the 4-star rated book Exclusives, a contributor to the Jakes Gerwel Foundation’s Paulet House Stories, and a featured poet in The Writing Woman Anthology. Her upcoming script, And…Action, has already gained traction at the Foxwood Theatre and is set for the 2024 KKNK Lucky Pakkie Theatre Program.
Trailblazing Across Borders Jane has represented South Africa on global stages, including the SA Focus Week in Singapore, facilitated by the Department of Sports, Arts, Culture, and Recreation FS. Her selection for prestigious artist residencies like Tankwa and Bodhi Khaya in 2023 underscores her international acclaim. In 2024, she will serve as a Performance Arts Facilitator for the Tankwa Artscape team.
An Advocate for Social Change Jane’s passion extends beyond art for entertainment; she uses her craft to address societal issues. As a keynote speaker at the 2024 Gender-Based Violence Prevention Symposium, Jane will highlight her innovative use of art to promote GBV awareness and prevention. Her timeless autobiographical theatre production, Psalm 69, has toured extensively, including at the Global Leadership Summit 2018, sparking meaningful discussions on social ills.
Award-Winning Short Films Jane’s work as a filmmaker is equally impressive. Her short films Sehlabelo and Cleanse have garnered critical acclaim, with Cleanse airing on DStv as part of the 2022 Woordfees TV lineup and winning multiple international awards. These stories delve deeply into themes of oppression, resilience, and transformation.

A Legacy of Excellence From her standout role as a male prisoner in Athol Fugard's The Island, reimagined by Dr. Jerry Mofokeng wa Makhetha, to her 40+ theatrical performances, Jane has solidified her place as one of South Africa’s most versatile performers. Her many accolades include being a three-time Kyknet Fiesta nominee, a finalist for Mail & Guardian’s 200 Young South Africans and African Women Innovative Entrepreneur Forum Awards 2024, and being named one of News24’s Young Mandelas of the Future 2023.
Currently based in Bloemfontein, Jane serves as a panel member of the National Arts Council of South Africa and a senior judge for the World Monologue Games and Film Festival. She continues to pave the way for artistic innovation while mentoring the next generation of creatives.
